- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2014We've always been Clue fans in my household - it's the perfect board game for rainy days, and many past sleepovers were spent trying to solve a murder late into the night. What's to love in this new version? For starters, both sides of the board are playable, allowing a 'change of scenery' from the mansion to the boardwalk whenever we so desire. The Boardwalk side is noticeably more 'cheerfully colored' than the mansion side, and introduces new elements of gameplay and strategy to the classic game. Perhaps I should note that we are not purists, so we openly welcomed these changes that Hasbro implemented in its efforts to innovate the game in this new release.
We also love that the game is partially made in the USA! The box and board were made in the US, but certain tokens and dice were imported. Anyhow, we have been trying to support US companies and purchase more products made in the US, and thought that this was a step in the right direction when our old game was beyond repair.
Another notable change we noticed was that there were fewer squares on the board, which does function to speed up the game as it takes less time to reach a given room in comparison to older versions. However, this change alone was not a detriment to gameplay. All things considered, our family loves Hasbro's 2013 version of Clue, and it was money well spent in our opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2016Another great value in games - this Clue set not only includes the classic game, but also on the reverse of the board you can play the game in a different setting (the boardwalk outside instead of the mansion). To be clear, you can play the classic game that you remember. But you can also play the new game with some modified rules as well. Both are fun.
You'll have all that you need to play, including all the pieces and characters you remember (but with different 'updated' pictures on the cards).
It's loads of fun and I'm very happy with this purchase
Bottom line: this version won't be good for purists who only want the original, but we are enjoying it
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2016My husband and I really liked the original CLUE when we were younger. So now that our kids are older, we wanted to find them one. We played it all together as a family and I was surprised to find the board different then I remember. The rules have changed too. The spacings on the board are WAY big, so you can pretty much get to any room you want on a turn. This takes a bit of the fun out of it. So we took a black permanent marker and simply divided each square in half. Worked great, and now the game is much more fun as it's a bit more challenging! Just like the original.
We do like that the board now has 2 sides and 2 game cards. Add's a bit of variety to it. Same basics as the original, good price. All in all, we do like this game and the price but would recommend the modifications for children over 8 to make it more fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2016The perfect gift for my stepson! He just recently decided he liked board games, so I've been trying to find ones that would challenge him but also keep him entertained (and since he is 16, it is not as easy as you think!). Clue provides the perfect place for friendly competition, deductive reasoning, and a fun Saturday night!
Plus, this Clue isn't like the one of my youth! In addition to the traditional side where Mr. Green did it in the Living Room with the Rope (Where the rooms have also bee updated for a more modern feel), you can flip the board over for the beach addition and get a whole new experience! Try Mrs. Scarlet in the Surf Shop with the Candlestick! This game has provided us with hours of entertainment...and a step son who has asked repeatedly if we could play it again!
Thank you Clue for helping me bridge the gap with my stepson!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2015This was my FAVORITE game when I was a kid. Now that my kids are old enough to play and understand it, it's my fave again! My kids love it too. The first time playing it my 6 year old wanted to play it over and over again. He's obsessed with it. I like how this edition is modernized so kids from their era can enjoy it as much as I did as a kid. This particular version is especially cool as it has the beach side when you flip the board over. My kids and I prefer the old school mansion, but the beach is a nice edition for those who wanna switch it up sometimes.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2014This update of the game I remember as a kid is really different than the one adults may remember from the 70s. In addition to the loss of groovy old-fashioned English gentry rooms like the Conservatory, the suspects have been updated to make them from the House of Scarlet, etc. It's all very "39 Clues" if you know that book series which each House being strong in a certain talent. Basically, a useless reboot and not nearly as fun as being Professor Plum. The rules specify a certain number of "face up" clue cards depending on the # of players. This makes it way too easy to solve. I solved the first game on my 2nd turn! We've not played the Boardwalk side, as frankly, it looks to easy because of a fewer number of "rooms." It's still a good game and if you don't know the old school version you'll probably be satisfied with this edition. However, it left us wanting our old game.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2014I love Clue, so when I saw it for a mere $8 on prime, I had to buy it. Great game, did not disappoint. Only odd thing is I received two game boards in the box. Now you may be thinking - well this game has two "locations" to play: the boardwalk and the mansion. Well they are both on the same board, the mansion on one side and the boardwalk on the other. So who ever works in the factory putting the boards into these boxes majorly messed up. I guess i can just play MEGA clue with the two boards...
